For Cinema Lovers
This year, the Cultural Services departments of the French Consulates in San Francisco and Houston will offer selected participants the opportunity to participate in the world-renowned Festival de Cannes
In San Francisco: The Film Society (an important partner for France in promoting French and international film) will work with the San Francisco Consulate to select a young professional or student from one of the region’s schools with a strong cinema program such as San Francisco Art Institute, UC Berkeley, etc.
In Houston: The France-UT Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Texas in Austin and the Houston Consulate are currently presenting a French Film Series of 9 French films. The film series began in October 2009 and will continue through May 2010. The selection for the 2010 Cannes Film Festival grant will be based on writing a personal film review of one of the films shown during this series, "Little Senegal". The contest is open to UT undergraduates under the age of 25. All are welcome to attend the film screening on Monday, February 8 at 7:00pm (Dobie Theather, Austin).
