Dear Friends
Back to school, back to work, back to French culture!
August 13-15, Atlanta was invaded by street artists from around the world for Living Walls, which featured conference at the Georgia Tech School of Architecture and a gallery show at Eyedrum, still on display (see site for details). Invited artists painted 11 murals around the city of Atlanta, proving that street art is truly art for all. The biggest mural of all was an 11-story wall in downtown Atlanta by French artist, Remed, who came to Atlanta for the first time for Living Walls. Braving the Atlanta summer heat, Remed managed to finish two of three figures, and will return in October to finish the third figure and add color to the piece. You can go see the wall, in progress, and check back for updates on the completion of the wall.
September 26 marks the opening of the art exhibition, French Nineteenth Century: Master Drawings and Sculpture from the Schlossberg Collection at the Oglethorpe University Museum of Art in Atlanta. The exhibition is composed of 19th century French drawings and sculptures from one of the finest private collections in the country, and includes pieces by well-known French masters, such as Ingres, Gauguin, Degas, Renoir, Seurat, Bourdelle, Couture and Pissarro.
