Venus, Goddess of Love
Los Angeles Art Association is proud to present , Venus, Goddess of Love, a group show juried by Andi Campognone and by Gwen Samuels, Amandine Nabarra-Piomelli and Susy Keely
This exhibition is a celebration and exploration of love, lust, longing, desire and feminity.Inspired by the revelation that one of her best friends concealed a longstanding and unrequited love, Amandine Nabarra-Piomelli roamed the winter streets of Paris at night, trying to make sense of her friend’s (and her own) conflicting feelings. The results of these excursions now compose Secret Love, a series of painterly images, fleeting impressions of color and light that manifest the artist’s state of mind. The multiple, layered photo graphs on gypson-coated Japanese paper emphasize sensations of solitude, secrecy, loneliness et missed opportunities, and carry an unmistakable physical presence like a love never realized.
