Synopsis

Fifty-year-old Jean-Claude Delsart, worn out by his police work, gave up on the idea of life offering any sweet surprises some time ago. But he hadn’t counted on just what would happen when he finally got up the nerve to learn the tango.

Reviews

“As he is visibly a humanist, the film-maker has enough elegance to give everyone a chance, and manages to surprise us as well as himself. His audacity lies in his attachment to the fragile nature of "simple hearts", without idealizing them, or despising them. And, a bit like Ozu in times past, in his ability to film them simply, on the edge of their emotions.”
Télérama - Pierre Murat

“"Je ne suis pas là pour être aimé" is a film that proceeds by light touches, small and always precise strokes. (…) Go and see it, it sometimes brings tears to one’s eyes.” _ Le Parisien - Pierre Vavasseur “A discreet but skillful power (…) Good technique, good technician, a little film among the greats.” _ Chronic’art.com - Guillaume Loison

Films on the Green

After the East Village, the “Films on the Green” festival is again targeting a specific New York neighborhood with several community-run parks so as to create a real connection with its residents. The Mount Morris historical district in West Harlem, at the crossroads between the traditional Harlem of 125th street, new immigrant communities—such as Little Senegal on 116th street—and the student neighborhoods near City College and Columbia University, provides an ideal setting for a festival that seeks to bring neighbors closer together, to create new connections, and to contribute to New York’s remarkable melting pot (or dancing pot, as it were!).
