“HOSPITALITY, EMPATHY, GENEROSITY, TECHNOLOGY” LECTURE BY MATALI CRASSET

SCAD STYLE SCAD-Savannah and SCAD-Atlanta welcomes world-renowned artists, designers and industry professionals for a series of events highlighting several of the college’s style- and design-oriented programs of study, including fashion, interior design, and metals and jewelry. Events include lectures, trunk shows, book signings and special film screenings, culminating in the college’s annual fashion show. Among others, lectures and exhibitions by or related to French artists.

Matali Crasset, a France-based industrial designer, is a graduate of the Ateliers École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle whose work centers on the development of new typologies based on modularity, appropriation, flexibility and network. She denies pure shape, conceiving work that is like “a research in movement, made of hypotheses more than of principals.” A five-year experience in working with Philippe Starck led to being jointly awarded the Grand Prix of Design of the City of Paris in 1997. Crasset’s work explores residential and urban rituals and the domestication of technology, comprising industrial design products, graphics, theater sets, wallpaper, and furniture.
