Philippe Gronon
French artist Philippe Gronon’s gelatin silver prints of wall safes,
library card catalogues and elevator doors are taken with a studio
camera and enlarged to scale. Interested in how everyday objects
inform collective or individual memory, the artist creates life-sized
images that are hyper-descriptive of reality and yet also conceptual.
Philippe Gronon has exhibited widely in Europe in solo shows,
including the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (1997) and Mamco
Geneva (2003), and in group exhibitions, including Centre
Pompidou (2006 and 2007), La Force de l’Art, Grand Palais (2006).
This will be his first solo exhibition in the United States.
